Meet Your Guides

People call Professor Larry Schweikart the history teacher you always wished you had.

He’s the rock-and-roll drummer turned teacher who brings history to life—real life—making the characters human, the events relatable and the places vivid.

When you join Larry in St Augustine, he will take you back through 500 years of amazing history... for a wild adventure that is our past.

He shows us how yesterday made us who we are today, and he does it all in his intellectually irreverent “Professor Larry style.”

Who is Larry Schweikart? He’s not only a history guru, Larry’s a tenured college professor, who once lectured in the halls at the University of Dayton.

There, he taught history for 20 years and literally “wrote the book” on the subject... A Patriot’s History of the United States. Actually 25 books and counting. Many, New York Times #1 best sellers.

Tour Castillo de San Marcos

Oldest Fort in the United States

Castillo de San Marcos was built by the Spanish to defend their colonization efforts in the New World. The construction took some 23 years, beginning in 1672.

The iconic, amazingly preserved Castillo de San Marcos was constructed of coquina, a soft limestone composed of broken shells. This material proved not only resistant to fire and cannonballs but also time... over 325 years old!

Sunset Sail Aboard The Schooner Freedom

St. Augustine’s Premier Tall Ship!

Enjoy a gorgeous two hour
sail, look out for dolphins or cuddle with your special someone while sipping a cool drink. Passengers are more than welcome to help set sail and maybe even take the helm.

Freedom is the only schooner charter vessel between Charleston and the Florida Keys. With nearly 2400 square feet of sail, she is an honorable testament to naval history and to the privateers of the early 1800s.
